No booze for a whole month? You CAN do it. Whether you're trying Ocsober, going dry in July or saying no way in May, here are a few ways to make going on an alcohol-free month easier
Re-think your social activities
If all your socialising is done at the pub or local bar after work or over the weekend then of course it will be tempting to have a drink. So remove temptation from the equation. Get creative and think of other ways to socialise with family and friends. Try activities such as going for a picnic in the park, watching a movie at the cinema, or catching up for breakfast at a local cafe.

Find another way to relax
Most people tend to associate a glass of wine or cold beer with relaxation so find a substitute activity to help you unwind. Treat yourself to a bath, have a nice cup of tea, catch an episode of your fave TV show - it's about finding another outlet to help you relax.
Be the designated driver
If you're driving you can't drink, end of story. Drive to all your social engagements so you're not tempted. It will be easier to avoid drinking if you know you really can't!

Get a substitute drink
Standing up to a chorus of 'Why aren't you drinking?' and 'C'mon one won't hurt' is tough and if you really can't stand the pressure to have a sip, just look like you're already drinking. A soda water with lime looks exactly like vodka with lime and a virgin cocktail looks exactly like an alcoholic one. No one will ever know and you won't have to deal with the barrage of comments. Don't worry, we promise we won't tell!
Think of the positives
Waking up on Sunday morning sans hangover sounds pretty great don't you think? Start tallying the positives of going without alcohol such as having more energy and skipping all those extra calories and you'll soon find you won't feel like you're missing out on so much.

Treat yourself
Think of how much money you spend on alcohol on an average night out, let alone how much you spend in a month. Staggering isn't it? Put aside all the money you would usually spend on alcohol and treat yourself to something nice with all that you've saved at the end of the month. A massage? A new bag? It sounds a litte better than unconsciously spending hundreds of dollars on alcohol doesn't it?
